Waiting For Peter Pan

Info

When I was young (🎵I never needed anyone🎵, Sorry just carried away), before going to bed, I always check if the window is ajar. Hoping that HE will be there to fetch me, take me to a place only we know.

Waiting for someone named Peter Pan.

Usually girls of my age admire superman, spiderman, olaf the snowman or any of their own superheroes (pardon me, I know olaf is not a superhero, but close enough, right?). Well I'm different, I don't fancy any of them. I always waited for the boy who never grows up. Waiting for him to tell me, "come away with me to neverland."

As a little girl, whenever my mom asks me to make a wish before blowing my birthday candles or whenever my dad dresses up as a santa clause and asks me what I wanted for christmas, I always answered the same, "I wished to go to the second star to the right and straight on til morning!"

I was hoping that he will teach me how to fly. Tinkerbell will be there to sprinkle me some pixie dust. We will have lots and lots of adventure together, fighting the pirates, meeting a prince or a princess and maybe even some mermaids.

But then, he never came.

I fell asleep.

Eventually got tired of waiting.

Years passed by, I realized that he will never show up. That, unfortunately, he doesn't exist. There is no such thing as a boy who never grows up. If I want "Peter Pan" to take me to neverland, it is my heart that should be opened not my window.

I felt a sprinkle of hope as I no longer waited for a boy who will never ever grow up. Instead, I focused on waiting for the boy who would grow up with me.

A boy who will surprise me and take me to a place greater than neverland.

Who would teach me how to believe not just in fantasy but also in reality.

A guy will fight away all the problems with me.

A man who will never be tired of waiting.

I closed my window and opened my heart enough for someone to enter my life and bring my fictions into nonfiction.

I no longer waited for the boy who never grows up, for a man who will grow old with me is more than enough.

I've always admired Peter, though the book was a bit, you know. Anyways, really loved this, Alex :) And made me realize that we shouldn't hold onto fictional beings, after all, there are more real people out there that won't leave us waiting for nothing.
