We'll stay forever this way

The Sun seemed to be smiling more for Zoya that day,the marigolds in her garden seemed to be swaying their heads in joy and the sky seemed to be beautiful like a painting in the canvas.Zoya looked at herself in the mirror for the infinite number of times that day.Everytime her phone beeped her heart beat increased a bit.She had seen friends turning into foes, familiar faces abandoning her and love changing into indifference.

Amik was like the first showers of rain in the hot summer months.Just when Zoya gave up on humanity,He marched  in like an intruder and making her feel the warmth  of love and care. The walls around Zoya were high but Amik like a warrior shattered the walls and made her build an empire of hers again. For Zoya,Amik was her escape to the world untouched by the claws of selfishness.

They met a year back through a social media site and quite surprisingly breaking the cliches of the validity and reliability of such bonds, they somehow held on to each other.A casual friend request changed their entire lives. And sometimes Zoya wondered that how living in a different time zone,in a different continent,Amik knew exactly what she felt.

There were always desires to hold each other, look into each other's eyes, rest heads on each other's shoulder and maybe sometimes just cuddling up with each other but distance always gave them a reality check.Fights weren't sorted out with buying each other chocolates or weekends didn't mean movie dates or long drives.Birthdays didn't mean celebration of togetherness or surprising each other with special gifts.

Zoya at first thought it was just a good option to divert her mind from all the tensions she had.She was working in an orphanage teaching children and in their smiles she found warmth. For her they were her family. For Amik,he had struggled with all the ups and downs of life and finally his hard work did gift him with a job in the U.S.He had everything in life except for someone who would shower him with Love. Both of them started on a casual note, little realizing that they would become integral part of each other's existence.

Standing in front of the mirror, looking at her black top she wondered how Amik would be excited to see her in his favorite color. He had finally managed to get leave and when he broke the news of his arrival, Zoya's happiness knew no bounds. She had been crossing out dates in the calendar to wait for the day when they both would officially be in a real date.

As discussed they chose a park nearby  to meet and Amik already had bought a ring to propose Zoya for marriage. He was still in the train when Zoya's message read-'Cant wait to actually see you and cuddle you'. Amik's face lit up.He texted back-'My princess, sorry to keep you waiting for long, this time it won't be so.Love You Forever.'

The train reached the destination and Amik being new asked the people the way out.The station was quite deserted and except for a few men the platforms too seemed to be sleeping soundly. He finally got his way and Zoya was already standing at the entrance of the park waiting for her love.Amik from a distance saw her and that was the first time they made eye contact.Zoya felt like running towards  him to hug.But Amik gestured her to wait. They were only about 20 footsteps away from each other and Zoya was elated to see that finally the distance between them dwindled. They knew they had been waiting for a long time for this union.
Amik's smiling face was enough to make Zoya's world beautiful.Suddenly their worlds seemed to pause by the sound of a shot. Before Zoya could understand anything, she found Amik collapsing in front of her eyes with blood staining him from behind. She saw a man running and a bike chasing him.The men in the bike didn't even wait to help her but she knew because of their wrong shot she had lost the most important part of her life right in front of her eyes...
Amik's lifeless body still had a smile and the ring from his pocket had fallen in front of Zoya...
