What does it feel like to be me?

Info

It’s such a hard thing to be like me, a girl. And just like any other thing in this world, being a female has its own pros and cons. To be someone who is expected to wear skirts and dresses, who is supposed to be caring and sensitive when it comes to their looks isn’t as easy as it looks like.

Being a female comes with a price, it isn’t all rainbows and cupcakes, and it is not even about make ups and hairdos. It is all about what the society expects you to be.

Imagine waking up and going outside the house. You did not brush your teeth, and you did not even comb your hair, what will the people tell about you? As a Filipino you will hear them saying, “Kababaeng tao di sanay mag-ayos.” And add to that the sour faces they are making while looking at you. It is not easy when all you want to do is to breathe fresh air after a long sleep.

As a Queen, one must always look presentable. She should wear gowns and heels and crown. But that’s not the only con of being a girl. In partnership with this promo, to be a girl is to be a woman. And a woman is a role model for all. One must always mind her ethics, for she is expected to be wise and neat.

To be a woman, you must learn how to cook because you are to be a housewife that will take good care of everything inside the house. Yet to be a woman you should be proud, as they say. And why is that?

Because as a woman you will be protected, no matter how manly you seem to be, you will be secured. As a girl you are treated differently in so many ways. The term ‘Ladies First’, is an example. There are multiple privileges in being a girl and the courting stage is the best example. You will be provided by gifts and letters. You will be given special time and attention.

But above all, it is such a great blessing to be a woman. You can be the woman who will give birth to a child as part of the new generation. You can be someone’s inspiration for living through every day. You can be the typical woman that they expect you to be, the quiet and hardworking.

Yet, you can be someone who will be out of the league, someone who will break the rules just to follow her dreams. Because as a woman, I can say that we are blessed with pros and cons yet we can choose our own paths.

We can be the typical or the unusual. I can be the ordinary or the special.
