It wasn't a usual evening.The city was basking in the radiance of Christmas.Every house was lit up with lights, Christmas trees adorned the Cross roads,in every nook you could see some stalls displaying cards,books of Carols or cute Santa Claus caps to add to the festivity.The sky was lit up with stars and people were out gearing for the festival.
I entered into the coffee shop and waited for you.I ordered your favorite coffee and a muffin for myself.You had the smile of an illuminating Star and you had worn my favorite pink shirt.
You came forward and sat down.We talked about the evening,the festivals,the crowd but not about us not being together anymore or the unfavorable situations we had to continuously battle with. I could see your eyes transforming into a water body ready to flood but you cleverly diverted my attention to some other stuff Everytime I tried to fathom the depth of your Heart.Your eyes expressed a thousand words and we conversed well in our silences.
We walked out of the coffee shop and took the lane that ran behind.It was less crowded and we wanted to spend a little time more drowning in the stillness of the evening.We went to our favorite place by the stream.The benches around were less crowded as people were busy with the festivities.We sat there looking out at the lights that came from a distance from the city.The stars were bright and I rested my head on your shoulder and we both got lost looking out at the sky.The chilly wind hit us and I moved closer to you only to find you pulling me nearer.You dropped a kiss on my forehead and I could feel a drop of tear on my cheeks and I knew my eyes were not it's source.
We sat there for long cuddling up and feeling every bit of each other.We talked about our friendship,our transformation to lovers and so many memories we made.I could feel my throat becoming heavy and your breath catching momentum.You rubbed your hands against mine and entertwined your fingers over mine.We knew it was hard for us.You caressed my messy hair and wiped away my tears that I was shedding silently.You kissed my eyes and I felt like stopping you but I couldn't.You kissed my forehead,my eyes and before I could pull you closer to plant a kiss on his lips,You pulled yourself away from me and told me it was getting late.
On our way back home,you held my hand tightly when we walked through the beautiful town.We saw so many happy faces all around us hand in hand and that made my heart sink a little more. The thought that I could never hold you again,get your smell or listen to your heart beat made me realize that how hard it is to let go.Its actually tough to detach from someone whose presence you seem to get so fond of and comfortable with.
The turning came and youhad to take the other lane.Before leaving you hugged me one last time and I breathed with you one last time before we parted.My world seemed to be confined in our embrace and before leaving you whispered in my ear-"Take care my Princess till we meet again in our next birth"
I stood still watching you leave and I knew you had taken the best part of me along with you forever.
