I'm trying to forget you
Thought by slipping thought
But my neurons keep exciting and my gut keeps getting caught
Like this message you run through my sinking brain
And like river you flow through my body in waves
You moved in slow, painfully familiar patterns in that ever- widening gyre
But I've managed to be your axon, be your wire.
To carry you over long distances
And like its terminals carry you to my other parts and depths
As like the synapse between us
Separation and memories we have to adjust
We feel the presence of each other
Yet a simple touch we can't recover
I've tried, I've been this dendrite
I've tried to keep us together telling you to hold tight
But despite of all the struggles and the pain
I'll always thank you for everything I've recieved and gained
I was your axon, dendrite and everything in between
And you spread akin to fire in agasoline
Though I never would have
survived
Because of you I've never felt more alive.
re·gret rəˈɡret/ verb feel sad, repentant, over something that has happened especially a loss.
