About Last Night..#Episode 7

OnedaybeforeSam'sbirthday..

At11a.m In Shalini's Place...

Shalini woke up with a bad mood and a little late than her usual time.
Lazily she switched on her phone to check messages and mails.
There was a notification saying a mail received.. The surprise element was that the mail was from the same company from where she was being rejected last day..
Then why again a mail??
Eagerly she opened the mail box and the mail read..

"HiShalini,

Wearegladtoinformyouthatwehavereconsideredyourapplicationforthepostyouappliedforandluckilywehave anopeningintheP.R.departmentifyouwouldstillwant to considertakingupthejobthenyoucan mail us back.

Thereisonlyonecondition, ourcompanyhiresonlycandidateshavingapostgraduationdegree.Ifyoucancometothedealthatyouwillcompleteyourp.g.inthesamefieldafter one yearofworkexperiencethenyouaremorethanwelcome to join us.."

Shalini read the mail thrice unable to believe on her luck..
She was super happy and decided to show her mom that she got the job without the degree (though she already decided to hide the condition part.)
She called up Sam..She needed to celebrate..
"Hey Sam..I have a great news to share.Catch up @ 2p.m.& Sorry for last evening..I was so lost.. Anyways we are having lunch together and treat is on me.. Because today I finally proved my mom wrong.. Anyways be there..See ya.." Shalini,as always, did not ask him rather informed him that they were meeting..

After keeping the phone Shalini went to her mom's room and said "Didn't you say that nobody hires a mere graduate in such a good post then let me disappoint you a little mother..I have been hired by the same celebrity management firm and as a P.R..I am taking up this job.I know you won't be happy to know this decision of mine but I thought you should know atleast."
Her mom just smiled and congratulated her..
Shalini left the room after informing her about her getting hired & she was in a very satisfied state of mind.
"Finally I proved her wrong." Thought Shalini..

After Shalini left.
Her mom received a call from Sam..
Sam-" Aunty,why did not you say her that you fixed up the whole thing??"
Shalini's mom- "No Sam.. It's not that easy..She is happy and I'm  being happy seeing her smile and don't you know she always thinks me to be her enemy?"
Sam-"I understand..But one question how did you fix it up? She was already been informed that without her higher degree with specialisation in marketing & p.r she won't be hired.& You always wanted her to go for her higher studies.Then..??"
Her mom-"I know Shalini very well..She would have wasted another year trying to get into another company.It's better if she learns something in that way & have not you heard of the condition they did put along with their offer mail??"
Sam-"No..I have not yet informed about anything by Shalini.."
Her mom-"The Condition is..She has to complete her higher degree after a year of work experience.."
Sam- " Did you ask them to put such a condition??"
She said smiling "Yes Sam,I had to..That was the only way.."

By mistake..Shalini left her phone in her mom's room..She went to take that back and just when she was about to enter, she over heard the whole conversation..
She felt strange..!!
Not angry but guilty.. Guilty of blaming her mom for no reason all the time.. Guilty for behaving so rudely with her alwyas..Guilty for not seeing the care she did for her.. Guilty for not realising how much she loved her..
Shalini suddenly realised she actually had her mom by her side all these years but she was  a too stubborn to see that..She neglected her all these years just because she was her dad's second wife.She felt terrible..

As soon as she realised she could not hold back her tears or emotions..She decided to mend everything with her mom on that very moment..
"Mom.." Shalini called from behind..
Her mom looked at her shocked..Thinking, again she will misundertand her..
"Hey Shalu..I was just...I was over the call with....I thought you left.." she started to fumble thinking Shalini would again judge her..
"Mom..You don't have to say anything.." she came running towards her and hugged her and sobbed for a very long time and said "I'm sorry mom..Sorry for not seeing the care and love that you always had for me.. Please forgive me..Can't we just start about getting along together..??Like real mother and daughter?"
Shalini's mom stood there perplexed.Even she started to cry knowing that finally Shalini has accepted her as her mother..
& Finally she said "Ofcourse Shalu we can..But are you not angry that I fixed the whole thing?"
"No mom..But how could you fix that?" Shalini asked eager to know the back end story.
"Well..Mr.Khanna is a friend of mine.We work for the same NGO.I knew you were trying for his celebrity management firm.I also knew they hire specialists..As in with higher degree.But you were so much into getting into that firm and I just couldn't see you upset.So I convinced him to hire you and with the given condition.."
"Wow.." Shalini said looking at her mom and realising how much this woman cared for her happiness..

After that she called Sam..
"Lunch at my place..No questions asked." Shalini said Sam.

At2p.m- Shalini's Place..

When Sam entered her place he saw that both daughter and the mother were sitting on the couch.
& Probably for the first time in all these years Sam saw them laughing.
He was shocked ...well in a positive way..
"Hey Sam..I heard from my mom that how you told her that I was dead upset but how did you know that my mom was the one who fixed the whole thing??" Shalini asked ..
"Well..Aunty called me last night and asked if you were still crying over the rejection of that job.&she also wanted to re-assure about the firm's name where you applied..That's how I came to know that she knew the owner of the firm and she could fix it up.." Sam narrated to Shalini..
From Sam's expression it was clear that he was still confused about what was going on between Shalini and her mom..
Shalini could read that from his face and finally said "Sam,you know. There are people who are lucky to get a mother.&am double lucky because I got two momz.. Unfortunately I was too stubborn to accept the fact but I realised how much I need a mother and how much she had tried to get me to accept her as a mother all these years..I already lost my birth mom and I don't want to lose her.."
Sam was shocked to listen these words from Shalini..& looking at his expression..Shalini laughed at first and then she narrated the whole morning episode to Sam..
Sam was happy to see them together..

Then they all had lunch..Finally,Shalini and her mom looked like a happy family..
"Only if Shalini could see my care for her too"thought Sam taking a deep sigh...looking at the happy mother-daughter duo...!!!
