Behind The Lights

As I travel back and forth,

I see how the flashing lights

of every color brings

life to the city.

No matter how dark

the night is,

its sadness can still be seen

behind the false hope 

that the lights radiate.

I wonder how deep

the wounds are.

Wounds that remained fresh

no matter how hard we fought

the war.

The scars will still be there.

That's the ugly truth I always have to bear.

The night is getting deeper 

and as I get closer to my destination,

everything comes

crashing down

on me all at once.

It doesn't make sense.

All the lights

are surrounding me

but why do I feel a strong absence?

Don't worry young heart,

one day it will all make sense.

You don't have to take cover.

It's over.
