Coffee?

"coffee?", he asks."yes please ", I reply, sitting down on his dilapidated red white couch. The scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the air.Picking up the battered novel on the table, I riffle through the pages."Such fragile things they are, the papers" I muse out loud."As fragile as the human mind is" he said."And, why do you think the mind is fragile when it's the heart that's brittle and gets broken?" Handing me my mug, he sits down next to me on the couch, cross legged," The mind suffers it all.Unlike the heart, it doesn't break just gets weaker day by day" " uh-huh?",I say.My cue for him to explain. He smiles," okay.Just think of a situation, say a break up.He hurts you.You are broken.And in pain.But who decides that it's time to feel the pain? Who decides that you need to move on, and make a decision.Who makes the decision ?".I look at him, straight in the eye.Chuckling, he continues " Heart is an organ that is primarily designed to pump blood.Our mind is the one controlling the heart.So basically, if the heart gets broken, then don't you think the mind too has suffered ?"
I am lost in thought.Maybe he's right.Or maybe not.My mind is too clouded with thoughts unnecessary to think clearly." Hmm.Okay", I say.
I take a sip of my now cold coffee.Looking up at him, I ask " I don't get it you know.I don't get why people fall in love only to get broken.And I could never understand how could you trust a stranger  with something so brittle, as the heart, and when they break it, you shed futile tears.When it's your fault all along for trusting them with it"."What is it with you and love? Much heartache? Eh?". Continuing, he says"You are not supposed to get it.That's the beauty of it".
I smile.He knows what I am thinking, like the way he knew I like my coffee strong.
