the darkness in me

i have this darkness in me

that inspires me to write

at times, my thoughts suffocate

the light of my heart

when this light is out

i feel so cold and broken

and through this i find

the creative side of my mind 

one moment i'm doing fine

then suddenly i'm not free

i saw my wings shackled to the ground

then looking up, i saw the sky 

previously in blue 

now red staring down at me

asking a question

i couldn't seem to understand

"Why are you suddenly blind when you could see?" 

so i told some of my friends

about this darkness inside

they tried to help 

but the decision always falls on me

though you should know

i am never black and white

gray is my color

i wear darkness

it doesn't wear me

the thing about us

is that we must find balance

balance the darkness and light in you

for they are part of what make us human

we will feel all kinds of emotions

react to all kinds of situations 

you just need to find the right recipe

to proudly reveal yourself to the world and scream,

"THIS.IS.ME!!!"
