Happiness, Happiness...Where Are You?

Happiness is in you

Not in other people. 

Depend on yourself first

And not on others. 

For if you are waiting for them to appear

Expecting the happiness they could bring

You'll be terribly disappointed

When they did not come here. 

I want you to start

Searching for happiness

On things that are always there.

Not on people that disappear

Especially when you needed them the most. 

I want you to relieve that happiness

Based on simple things

That are always inside you.

For they are the ones

That are true and everlasting. 

I want you to feel strong

Because you are happy

Even when you are alone. 

I want you to see the world as it is

And not the world as it should be. 

Then, in the end

I hope you will realize

That even when the world owes you nothing

It still gives you something. 

For all these love freely given

Are treasures you deserve. 

Neither happiness nor love are people

They are what you feel. 

They have always been inside you.
