Differences

You add, I subtract, we have no common denominator

You’re north, I’m south, clearly separated by the equator

You’re blue and I’m red, the colors are too far apart

You like it rough while I prefer smooth, it’s a miracle that we got to start

You go right, I head left, the differences are too apparent

How can this work, when I’m opaque and you’re transparent?

But sometimes, differences aren’t all that bad

I can cheer you up, when I’m happy and you’re sad

When you’re hot and I’m cold you can warm me up

When I’m too soft and you’re hard, you can teach me how to be tough

When I’m so used to the bottom, you can show me what it looks like at the top

You can make me go on, when I say I want to stop

You see, differences aren’t all too bad, in fact different things are better together

Because two puzzle pieces can only fit, when they’re different, but made for each other.
