I was always oppressed,
I would always be oppressed.
Sometimes in the name of religion,
Sometimes in the name of gender.
Sometimes because how weak I am,
Sometimes because too strong I am.
Sometimes when my attire covered too much of my body,
Sometimes when my attire covered too little of my body.
Sometimes because I would remain silent,
Sometimes because I speak so much.
Still I would stand everytime,
Still I would fight every time.
I don't believe a word you say,
You don't oppress because I am female.
There is a need in you to prove your authority,
There is an urge in you to dominate.
I don't stand to demand equal status,
I don't stand to claim I can do all you can.
I know who I am,
I know what I can be.
Just let me be me,
Just think of me as another living soul.
Dignity of Draupadi should have been protected then, for better society for women today.
