Where Woman Stands

If almighty Pandavas would have stood by Draupadi,
If powerful Bhisma had used his power then instead of in the battlefield,
Had king Dhritrastra given death sentence to his son for maligning Draupadi,
Had the great scholar and teacher Drona lifted his weapons then,
Had  Draupadi not been insulated then,
Draupadi would not be insulted now in all walks of her life.

Examples of households; where woman are treated as objects would not be there,
People would not console Draupadi saying that only God can help and no living soul,
In todays world; God doesn't come when prayed for help,
Why was such example even set in case of Draupadi?

Why was it not told that husband should protect his wife at all cost?
Why was it not shown that a woman is safe in her family?
Why was she not said that if everyone fails to save her,
She is also a 'Shakti' who could lift weapon for herself.
Why was she not taught self-defense to set example?
Why was she not told that her husbands are mere living beings?
Why was she not asked to be aware of intentions of family members?
Why was she not adviced that "You are your own saviour"?

Women today would not have worshipped their husbands,
Women today would not have relied on them for protection,
Women today would have learned to be their own saviours,
Women today would have known a better world for themselves.

Had Draupadi set a different example then.
