If Shadows Weren't Black...

If shadows weren't black, what color would they be?

When I was a kid, I noticed that there's always this black thing that kept on following me. I was afraid of it and that made me cry. So as a solution, I always close my eyes. In that darkness I found calmness. At least there, shadows cannot be found.

I always close my eyes so my mom told me something. That if I close my eyes, the darkness I saw is the shadow itself.

I learned to accept the fact that I have to live with my shadow. But then I realized, at this cruel world, I'm not alone. My shadow is with me.

One day I woke up from a strange day. Then I thought, if shadows weren't black what color would they be?

Would it be scarlet? Orange? Gold? Green? Blue? Indigo? Or lavender? How colorful the Earth will be, when they become the colors of a rainbow!

It's sad to think that they are always black. They never change. The light change colors but shadows stays black.

I asked my mom. I asked my dad. I was left in daze thinking about their same answers.

If shadows weren't blank, will we be able to appreciate them?

If shadows weren't black, will they still be called shadows?
