Never Ending 2

The D-day arrived and the great hall in London was decked with the finest wine and savories. All eyes were on Anamika as she struts wearing an elegant traditional saree. Her name was called amidst thunderous applause. She stood up and walked onto the stage.

Abhimanyu stared at her exactly like the first time he set his eyes on her decades ago. He didn't remember her looking more beautiful than she looked that evening. For a moment, he felt the world around melt away and it was just Anamika and him in the whole hall.

That evening, as he went up to her suite to congratulate her. He secretly wished she still loved him the way she did years ago. The way he has never ceased to love her throughout these years. Just as he was about to broach the subject, she cleared her throat and said it, loud and clear, "You are fired!"

In that moment, everything spiraled into perspective. Reminding him of the broken trust and all the things went wrong. He wanted to implore her to see how he was willing to go to the end of the world for her. All she wanted was his world to end. As she dismissed him at the end of the meeting, he gave her just that. For he was willing to sacrifice everything for her happiness- even if it meant giving up on his love.

He returned to his suite, packed his bags and called the reception to book him onto the first flight out of London. He was the kind of thorough professional who has an investigation to run no matter what turmoil his personal life was going through. It was this same quality that put him in the 'top of the game'.
