The date started out well. He showed up with a poppy and cans of Budd.
After They drank, He got His car keys from His pocket, and asked, "You trust me?
She answered, "Yes."
He smiled and asked, "How much?"
"More than life itself," She quickly answered.
They got in the car and drove for a while. She was enjoying every moment, and to add to it, She turned the radio on where the perfect song played.
"--and have to smile, as we go..."
While driving, She held His warm left hand and looked at the left side mirror, then the rearview mirror.
"Ah, sunset -- how beautiful your orange skies are -- so beautiful it makes Me sad." She unknowingly said out loud.
"Why?" He softly asked.
"It represents an end, a beautiful end. The coming of a long cold night." She explained a bit.
He didn't say anything. He just gently smiled at Her. He held Her hand even more and brought it to His tender lips. Her cheeks grew crimson as She continued watching the roads of orange skies and lilac sideways ahead of Them.
"Oh, I can't keep my eyes on the road, knowing that He's inches from Me," the song eerily continued playing from the radio as it almost finished.
With that, She was brought back to reality.
The cool breeze brought chills to Her hands, and tears started to form in Her eyes. However, She knew She mustn't cry. Her radiant cheeks were now pale while She slowly turned Her head to the One next to Her.
As the skies started turning gray behind Them, so were the eyes of the One beside Her. Gone was the Life beside Her for She can only see Him. With a long, grim gaze, He continued smiling at Her.
"You trust Me?" He asked in a deep dark voice.
A tear rolled down Her cheek, "Yes," She quietly answered.
"How much?" He asked with a now darker voice and a menacing smile.
She breathed, "More than life itself."
Then, She drove.
"--And, I can't keep my eyes on the road, knowing that Shes's inches from... Me."
As the song finally fades and finishes, Death smiles at Her in the Passenger Seat.
