The moon was high in the sky, like a king gazing at its kingdom. The sky was a promise of tomorrow. Numerous stars dotted the midnight blue sky, making it look like an ethereal painting. It was perfect.
I sat underneath them, gazing at their beauty, and at the same time, yours. You were holding my hand, keeping me warm on the cold February night. It anchors me down, reminding me that this is not a fantasy but the nicest reality. It was perfect, and so were you.
"Beautiful," you whispered.
I leaned back on the car to look at you. You were looking at me too. Your eyes sparkle like the stars above us and at that moment, you were my galaxy, brighter than anyone else's.
I scooted closer, moving towards your warmth. We fit perfectly together. I lifted my hand, the one you're not holding, and touched your face. You smiled at me, and mine slowly started to match yours. You always make me happy. I closed my eyes and moved my face closer, close enough to breathe you in.
I imagined those days that I'd wake up seeing your face and smelling your scent. It would be perfect, like the night sky, like you, like the two of us together. I imagined spending the rest of my life with you, and that brought a smile to my face and a tug at my heart.
" Why are you smiling like that?" you asked. I can feel your breath on my face. I opened my eyes to stare at yours.
"Because you're here. And being here with you makes me feel complete and safe and everything good," I answered. "I love you."
And you said it back. And everything was perfect.
