A child alone
So far away from home
longed to hear her phone ring
For her mom promised to call
And left her waiting
Forever long.
A child alone
So far away from home
Five days gone
Still no sound
Just the humming
Of the humans around.
Sitting by the window
Looking at the stars
pondering over what went wrong
A little question
A little trip it was
A child alone
So far away from home.
Pen in the mouth
paper in the hand
writing down her flaws past.
Two decades gone
Her family couldn't deduce
of the tiniest pleasures
their one sentence bestowed.
So easy to think
She wasn't ever satisfied
Being wrong
she hated, when they did too.
Love was ever what she wanted.
A child alone
So far away from home.
Knife kept alongside
Scathing was not so painful
A little call, a little text
A little harm, no aftermath.
Her daddy's shoes,
Her mom's overalls
she wanted to fill.
Too afraid to ask for help
climbed down the staircase,
opened the door,
looked at the sky
"One day", she whispered.
Walking into the starry night,
she waited.
For her one day to appear.
A child alone
So far away from home.
