The Thing

Isn't it wonderful how a part of a person will always linger around, long after he/she has bid adieu to life as we know it. It is as if, we associate an inanimate object with the life of the person consuming it. For instance, a pair of glasses, a side of the bed, smell of the talcum powder, a song, or even the sound of the footsteps. Think about it. Everyone has their 'thing'. Your parents, spouse, neighbor, pet, even your roommate. A little mindfulness on your part, and you can recognize this 'thing'. And in many ways, identifying this 'thing' is important for us to keep ourselves rooted in reality during that person's absence. All the people you hold close to you, will lurk forever in ordinary things. Wonderful way to keep the flames of life burning, eh?
