“And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter— they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long.” ― Sylvia Plath
TWO YEARS EARLIER :
The night was eerily quiet, not a fly dared to make a sound. Samantha stood with her hands trembling, infront of her lay a scene of a crashed car with a limp human body inside she couldn't yet recognize. "NO" she whispered. She got a closer look at the figure that was lying amidst the shattered car pieces and gasped. Tears ran down her cheeks as she deciphered what had happened. Red and blue lights flashed behind her, soon afterwards hands were grasping her shoulders, "NO!" she screamed louder this time. "NO NO NO CASSY !!" her shouts were muffled by the sirens of the police car and the orders the police officers where giving to one another. "She can't be dead." Samanthan thought .... "She just can't."

NOW :
Samantha woke up bright and early just like every other day. Her body still felt sore from the activities that took place the day before, she limped to the bathroom to take her usual morning shower, as she peeled her clothes off, she recognized she had a new bruise on her shoulder. "Not a surprise" she mumbled to herself. She stepped into the warm water and let it caresse every inch of her body, it eased the pain she felt, but it wasn't enough, nothing would ever be enough. Samantha sighed, ever since her sisters' death in a car crash two years ago she had never been the same.
Guilt and pain rushed through her at the horrible memory she remembered all too well, it seemed to be haunting her forever. She stepped out of the shower and started going through her daily routine ; She got dressed, did her makeup and wore her hair up since that was the only hairstyle she could ever get away with. She glanced down at her watch, "shit" she said. She was running late and didn't have much time to eat breakfast, and she hated going to work on an empty stomach. She grabbed her keys and bag before quickly rushing out through the door. Her cat Mittens meowed at her through the window, he always hated it when he was left alone in the house, but he had enough food and water to last him for the day.
She started her car and raced down the freeway, today was the day she was going to interview for the company's manager at Coté Enterprises Holding, Inc , she just couldn't mess this up by being late. Her phone rang and she cursed, who would be calling her now ? She glanced at the caller ID but the number was unknown.
"Hello?" she said.
"Ms.Bell, Carmon speaking. Mr.Coté would like you to come in 30 minutes early. Is that ok with you?"
Ok ? OK !? I am running late and she's asking me if that's ok !! Absolutely not. 'Come on Samantha you're getting a new job today.' She reminded herself. 'You don't want to ruin this up by loosing your temper with the secretary.'
"Ms.Bell are you still there?"
Samantha had forgotten she was still on the line with Carmon. "Yeah I am. It's no problem I'll be there." She said. And with that she hung up and stepped on the gas. This was her chance at a new beginning.

Dimitri Coté, the CEO in Coté Enterprises Holding, Inc. has now been waiting to interview his soon to be manager for ten minutes. Just as he was about to leave, he heard someone enter the room, when he looked up he almost did a doubletake at the strikingly beautiful woman standing before him.
He stood up and walked up to her, as he neared he noticed how her warm dark brown eyes pierced through his. For the first time in forever his breath caught in his throat. He reached out a hand to greet her and she politely shook it.
"Ms.Bell." He said.
"Mr.Coté." She replied. "Please forgive me for being late."
"It's no problem." He saw the nervousness in her eyes and added "It was only ten minutes and I had just arrived here myself so please, take a seat."She did as asked and folded her long legs to the side, Dimitri tried not to stare too much but he didn't think he was doing such a good job at it.
"So Ms.Bell tell me, have you got any experience in doing business?" He asked.
"Actually I do, I have worked at a small company two years ago..." She trailed off, memories of her sisters' death came rushing back to haunt her once again. She shook her head trying to clear the horrible thoughts from her head. When she looked up, Dimitri was watching her closely.
"Which company?" He asked.
"Mitch coorp ―" She said before he cut her off.
"How many years?" He asked once again.
"Three years."
"Why did you leave?"
She hesitated before saying "Personal matters sir."
Her hesitation didn't go unnoticed by Dimitri, he studied her closely, wondering what could possibly have made her leave the company.
"Very well then." He said.
"Now tell me, what interests you about this opening?"
"It's a chance for a new beginning." She said.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr
Samantha let out a huge sigh of relief once she had gotten out of Mr.Coté's office. She had gotten the job, and wanted to celebrate so she called her friend Tony once she stepped foot into the fresh air to tell him the good news. He answered on the first ring.
"Yo. Tell me you got it!!"
"Um..." She feigned hesitation.
"Oh no Sammy it's ok maybe next time." He said trying to make her feel better
"Well I don't think there's gonna be a next time Tony." She said.
"Why's that?"
"Because I got the job!!" She screamed out.
Tony was so happy for her and they made arrangements to meet at Club Sonya to celebrate.
"I'll call Amy to tell her the good news." Tony offered.
"Thanks Tony you're the best."
"I know." He replied. She could tell he was grinning on the other side of the phone.
"Bye doofus." She said laughing before hanging up.
Samantha went to her car and started the engine. On her way to her house she sang along to 'Love me like you do' by Ellie Goulding and smiled to herself, For the first time in forever, she felt... Happy.
