we've had history

it's funny how we ended up in a situation we both knew
could be something more if only we knew how to keep things between us moving forward.

you're this wonderful person from the past
i now regret i didn't notice sooner, and now,
i guess to you, i'm just someone you had feelings before when we had
all the time in the world, both immature,
and so much younger.

it's funny 'cause years later i realized we could've been really something
that could save us both from the things we
desperately run away from;
because afterall, we're just two naive souls
existing in a place to fight
for something we can call our own. 

if we only gave it a chance, atleast one last time,
maybe we'd realize that the universe
brought us back together again for a reason
when the timing is right, now when we're so much wiser,
so much more than what we were and what we know before;

and maybe this time, we might've made things work,
maybe this time would be different,
maybe this time, we're both ready to work on
something better together,

to be able to build something stronger
strong enough for us to not hold back any longer
nor run away when things get tough.
all of these things, i guess,
would only remain as a wishful thinking,
because again, we never truly gave it a chance.
and maybe that's because
we were both afraid to try.

i know you have your own doubts as i do,
and maybe that's because we've been
down this road before.
maybe you fear that things would end up
exactly just the same way it did,
and you fear that maybe we were really
never meant to work.

but maybe if you hear me out,
maybe if you give me the chance to tell you
how i truly feel,
maybe we'd realize that the reason
we met again is to see how much we've grown,
and that we're ready to start anew,
and this time, build a lot more stronger,
stable and mature relationship,
based on trust, love, and growth.

maybe if you hear me out,
maybe i can work something out to prove you
that i changed for the better,
that my feelings are real,
that i'm better than before,
that i won't hurt you anymore,
and i'm willing to become the person
you deserve and more,
to become someone enough
to make you stay.
