Why Lang Leav IS NOT Writing Poems

First of all, this opinion is not to attack the bestselling author, but to give another definition of what poetry writing is. The common mistake of trying-hard poets, such as myself, is to throw "empty metaphors" as words with feelings. Feelings are not enough to develop grounded metaphors. Rhymes are not so too. What makes good poetry be considered as poetry is not the rhyme or the metaphors only. But the consistency in imagery and the subtlety of the attack. The reader needs to feel how the persona in the poem feels without the persona saying what it is. The number one rule for writing good literature, not only poetry but every literature in general, is to "SHOW, DON'T TELL." We have to give the freedom of interpretation to the readers because they deserve to SEE what we are talking about. If we give away literally everything, what is left for the reader to dig deeper into our work? How will they get attached to it if our words are empty? Therefore, the chance to be expressive is not just supported by syntax (but mind you, syntax is still important), but also by the consistency in our writing voice. So maybe Lang Leav DOES have a consistent writing voice. And I think, it is her inconsistency in imagery that is consistent. Read her works. Analyze for yourself. If you have read them already, re-read them and try to really imagine the image that she shows you with every word... If there are any.

I realized as I write this, that I really don't fit in the poetry writing industry since I badly misplace my metaphors and my images are not consistent. However, I will practice grounding and developing them in order to surpass my self, not Lang Leav. Or any other writer there is.
