Info

You asked me to be the rainbow sprinkles
Spread on the chocolate ice cream that is your life
You asked me to increase the flavour
And transform it into colourful, from what once was dry.

You asked me to be the map
With directions unknown
And a hand to hold
To discover what once was undiscovered
To walk you, through the times easy and full of hurdles.

You asked me to be a watch
To fit on your wrist
The one you can proudly show off
The one you wanted to introduce.

You asked me to be the time turner
Of your world and your life
To show you that the time can't be more perfect
Even if it's full of defects.

You asked me to be a hat
Which you can wear
To add that extra element to your attire
That can never ever go wrong.

You asked me to be a crisp white shirt
Which enhances the beauty and the look of the steel grey Armani suit
Paired up with a black tie and cufflinks
And pair up the intelligence with class
And make us look badass.

You asked me to be the first shower of rain
Which soothes the troubled soul
Which drenches one in its purity
Which brings a smile on the face of the distressed.

You asked me to be the sun's ray
To warm you after a cold day
The one which you can look in the eye
And accept, despite the mess and the trouble it is
Accept, despite the harm it creates.

You asked me to be a falling leaf
The one on which is written a story
Our story
The ink on it never ceases to be erased
The beauty, which never fades.

You asked me to be the morning coffee
After a night full of conversations
A cup you can call yours
And drink and cherish
In times hard and easy.

You asked me to be your everything
Yet, you didn't ask for anything
With me being a piece of your puzzle
You attached yourself as one
And wished for us to be those pieces
Which make this incomplete puzzle a lot more fun.

But alas,
I couldn't be that morning dew
The ray sharp
Or the fresh leaf
I couldn't be the coffee to your long working hours
Or white shirt and hat which complete your attire
Neither could I be the map to your drive
Nor was it possible to show you the right time.

Because this raindrop doesn't fall from top to bottom
This leaf is nothing but a dried up paper
This ray isn't sunshine, but a dark hurtful laser
Hurting you at every step
To an extent it becomes impossible to move back
The coffee is everything sour and bitter
The map itself is directionless, and the shirt stained
And the watch, Oh my, the watch itself has a time so drained.

Because sometimes, we gotta let go
Of what once appeared to be perfect
But by this time, the boat has travelled a distance huge
Rowing back isn't an option
And rowing forth? Doesn't happen.

So we stand there
In the middle of a lake deep
And think
About how we weren't good and nice
About how this puzzle piece just moved
And how what once seemed to be perfect
Is nothing but a blank piece of paper.

True words, Pulkit. We tend to loose ourselves when we run after people. We look for soulmates outside the four walls when all we need to do is peep inside. People have a tendency to show their true colours in times of despair and that is what life teaches us, everytime we run after people, be it friends or potential partners or any other form of human relationship. I love how for every single piece a writer creates, multiple reader develop multiple views and landscapes. It is said that the journey of a write-up starts from a writer's mind and ends in a reader's. And that is the beauty of writing. When you write something with a different feeling and it transforms into something else, the roots however remaining intact. Thank you for your words, Pulkit :)
