February, A Month-Long Story [5/28]

Info

Writer's Note: I realized that coming up with stories that require continuity is becoming more and more difficult in my case because of work. I apologize for not being able to meet the standard of posting once per day this month, but I have been writing everyday. It's just that I don't want to post something lackluster, which means that I need more time with every post. To those still following the story, I will always be grateful. :)

This is the fifth entry of a month-long story for February.

Feb. 5, 2017 [5/28]

They say that Wednesdays are the middle ground for almost every week.

You’re in the middle of finishing it, and you can either be glad that you’re halfway there, or be annoyed that you’re still only halfway there. For me, today was a mixture of both. I’m glad that the week still isn’t over, and anxious that it almost is.

I had nothing special planned for today, except for looking up at the sky for a common airplane sighting that for the life of me can’t explain why it never happens around where I live.

And all I needed was three.

Was that asking for too much?

I finished our exam early even though I hardly studied for it, which gave me more time to look up and spot more airplanes (not that I was really expecting to see some today because I had other plans).

I had a secret hideout at school which was located just outside our school grounds. You would have to walk a fair amount of distance, but it was definitely worth the walk. It was a hidden garden which seemed to have been left untended but still had many flowers growing in it. There was also a tire swing dangling from one tree and a hammock connected to two others.

But of course, I did not own this place nor did I ever claim it, but ever since I’ve discovered it during my first year I would often go here whenever I had long vacant hours in between classes to relax, write, or just rest altogether. The best part was that nobody else seemed to know about this place which made it feel all the more special.

As I made my way up the somewhat long staircase
leading up to my secret hideout, I noticed a figure in the distance.

I felt my heart skip a beat
upon realizing who it was.

It was her.

There she was, looking at the flowers and just standing there. She was holding a camera which had a lace around her neck. She was wearing a blue shirt with a flower patch on the left side and a white skirt which ended just above her knees. She was also wearing black chuck taylors. She looked like something straight out of a daydream.

My body froze for a moment before instinctively running somewhere to hide.

“What was she doing here?”

“How come she knows this place?”

“And why am I even hiding from her?”

The questions kept piling up as I observed her while hiding from one of the bushes like a creepy stalker. She didn't seem to notice me, or maybe she just didn't choose to.

"Maybe she's pretending not to notice me?"

"Should I talk to her?"

"But what about that deal with the universe? I'm only supposed to talk to her after seeing the signs, right?"

"Will talking to her break the deal with the universe? Will something bad happen?"

"What if this was the sign?"

Before I could make up my mind on whether or not to approach her, she looked at her phone and suddenly left.

"Well, there goes my chance.", I murmured to myself with utter disappointment.

She knows this place, for some reason. Whether or not she just ended up here, or if she will ever come back will be something I could only guess. I looked at my watch and noticed that it was already time for my last class of the day.

Before leaving, I noticed something white near the flowers where she was standing. I went over and picked it up.

It was her handkerchief.
