"Insecurity kills." That is what many people say.
But I honestly think it does a lot more than just that.
It makes you feels stuck, bogged down. It is not something that just hits you and instantly kills. Rather, it is dawdling, it takes its time. Insecurity slowly eats you, it consumes the self that you have been trying to build and strengthen.
It is a hindrance,
a strong wall which halts you from doing the things you'd love to do.
It is a chain,
a chain of steel that stops you from showing your true self that you should actually be proud of.
It prevents you from exploring the world, the big world that you can conquer if it weren't for that hovering sense of self-doubt. It causes you to miss out on a world in store for you. A world you are somehow trying to forget just because of the fear that others may see your flaws. Fear of revealing those weaknesses you are dying to hide.
Without you knowing, it magnifies the imperfections which you think might bring you rejections. It pushes inside your head the thought of disapproval that you don't think you have the courage to handle.
Then it controls you,
your actions,
your words,
your decisions,
until it fully swallows you and turn your life into something far less
beautiful than you originally hoped it to be.
Everyone is vulnerable to this, all of us.
Insecurity is powerful,
but it's just a thought,
just a subject of the mind,
a perspective.
It's a choice.
It's not as if insecurity can enter your life without your consent. It may be cunning and may often come unnoticed, but still, it isn't strong enough to destroy someone who is not willing to be destroyed. Someone who values self-worth.
If you know who you truly are and what you want in your life,
INSECURITY DIES.
It perishes every time you speak up with conviction in your voice.
It vanishes with every dream you pursue with your head held high
even if many people say you can't.
It slowly withers every time you share you talents, your skills, your
thoughts, your values.
It fades with every principle and belief you fight for.
Insecurity is a bitch.
Yet it is afraid of someone who knows oneself,
it is afraid of a strong will,
of self-esteem and determination.
Most of all, it is afraid of bravery.
Be brave, always remember that you are enough.
You alone, you are more than enough.
Never forget that you are valuable, you are precious. You may be judged by some, but as long as you don't judge yourself, you are perfectly fine.
Others may be a better poet,
a better friend,
others may be more beautiful,
they may have the body you hoped was yours,
still, IT'S FINE.
Others may have the intelligence you don't believe you were born with,
or they may be better at sports;
they may have more friends,
maybe a bigger house,
and they may have better lives,
still, THAT'S FINE.
It is never wrong to have imperfections, everyone is born with it.
Just as long as you make sure to be better than who you were yesterday,
you are doing just fine.
Do not let anything ruin the life you know you deserve. You were born to rule the life only you can live.
Stay strong,
be brave,
be fierce if you can.
For life is too short to hesitate.
Feel life's thrill, life is meant to be lived.
You are enough, more than enough.
